Die Toten Hosen retirement and farewell

The German punk rock band Die Toten Hosen is moving toward retirement after more than 40 years of activity. The band is scheduled to perform a likely final concert in Hamburg on August 27 at the Bahrenfeld harness racing track. This event is completely sold out, and the band has warned fans against using unauthorized ticket platforms due to the risk of fraud.

Leading up to the event, the band advised fans to use ‘Ticketswap’ for secondary sales, as it limits resale prices to a maximum of 120 percent of the original cost. The concert lineup includes support acts Gogol Bordello and The Stranglers.

On August 27, the band performed the sold-out farewell concert at the Hamburg Trabrennbahn before a crowd of approximately 35,000 fans. The setlist spanned over 45 years of history, featuring classics such as ‘Opel-Gang’, ‘Hier kommt Alex’, and ‘Bonnie & Clyde’. Alongside longtime members Kuddel, Breiti, Andi, and Vom Ritchie, the band included keyboardist Jet Baker in the performance.

Following the concert news, the band announced their farewell will be marked by the release of a double album titled ‘Trink aus, wir müssen gehen!’. The album contains punk rock songs and anthems regarding social issues, such as the rise of the political right. Frontman Andreas Frege, known as Campino, noted that the decision to end their 45-year career was based on a “long-standing gut feeling” rather than a lack of energy.
