In late July 2026 Moldova’s eRețeta system reimbursed more than 170,000 patients, disbursing about 118 million lei for medicines and devices, with large spending on cardiovascular and endocrine drugs. Within days Moldova introduced a drug‑stock monitoring platform that will gather daily supply data from manufacturers, importers, distributors and pharmacies, with mandatory reporting targeted for the end of 2026. At the same time Romania readied its national e‑Health portal “E‑Sănătatea Mea” for a 1 September launch. The portal, described as a “digital health wallet”, opened to roughly 20 million insured citizens and offers twelve modules – personal medical history, electronic prescriptions, digital referral tickets, reimbursement records, health‑status overview and a dedicated provider area, among others. It is optional but aims to cut paper use, and a new electronic identity card will gradually replace the traditional health card during the transition. ~~These developments illustrate a coordinated push in~~ On 30 July 2026 the ~~region toward comprehensive digital health infrastructure: Moldova expanding patient‑level reimbursement~~ National Health Insurance House (CNAS) confirmed that the platform will be available to patients from 1 September 2026, with the same optional use and ~~supply‑chain visibility, while Romania delivers~~ parallel operation of the electronic ID and health card. CNAS also unveiled a ~~citizen‑focused~~ package of health‑service reforms: family doctors may be reimbursed for extra consultations covering colleagues’ patients; the minimum weekly operating time for specialist clinics will be reduced from 35 to 17.5 hours and the required workdays from five to three; consultation slots for several specialties will be extended to 20 minutes; chronic‑disease monitoring protocols such as cholesterol‑HDL testing and HPV screening will be clarified; and the transition to biosimilar medicines will be accelerated. These measures aim to improve continuity of care, expand digitalisation and streamline the Romanian health ~~portal with extensive online services.~~ system.
