In mid-October 2026, the state of Odisha saw significant developments regarding digital infrastructure and disaster recovery capabilities. The Odisha Cabinet approved a ₹176.83 crore Disaster Recovery-cum-Data Centre in Kendujhar. Located at Dharanidhar University, the facility is intended to protect critical digital infrastructure by providing geographical separation from the primary state data centre in Bhubaneswar. The project aims to ensure uninterrupted government services through independent power, cooling, and cybersecurity systems. Concurrently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the upcoming inauguration of a new Reserve Bank of India (RBI) greenfield data centre and cybersecurity training institute in the Khordha district. Developed for ₹169 crore, this facility is designed to serve as a critical backup to the RBI’s primary centre in Navi Mumbai, specifically to mitigate seismic risks and concentrated cyber vulnerabilities. On October 25, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit Odisha to officially inaugurate the RBI facility at Info Valley-II in Jatni. The 18.55-acre site will house both the Greenfield Data Centre and the Enterprise Computing & Cyber Security Training Institute. The facility is intended to ensure business continuity for essential national financial services, such as currency management and secure data payments, while the integrated institute will focus on training experts to manage evolving cyber threats and enhance sovereign data security.
