The American alternative rock band Dinosaur Jr. has released ‘There Near’, their 13th studio album and first new project in five years. Released via Jagjaguwar, the album was recorded over a year at Bisquiteen Studio in Amherst, Massachusetts, by the core trio of J Mascis, Lou Barlow, and Murph, with additional piano and organ contributions from Ken Mauri. Musically, the record maintains the band’s signature sound, with J Mascis utilizing a 1970s Mesa Boogie MK 1 amplifier to achieve a crunch similar to their 1985 debut. Lyrically, the eleven-track collection explores themes of loneliness, mental health, and emotional isolation. To support the release, the band released a music video for the single ‘Everything At Once’, directed by Guy Kozak, which depicts a knight navigating modern-day mundane tasks. Following initial intimate shows in New York, the band has announced an extensive tour schedule. This includes a North American run throughout October and November 2026, ~~followed by an~~ covering the West Coast, Pacific Northwest, Mountain West, and Texas before concluding in New Orleans. The tour has been extended into early 2027, with a new leg in running from February ~~and March 2027 covering cities such as~~ 11 in Brooklyn, New York, through March 13 in Boston, Massachusetts. This extension will include stops in Philadelphia, Nashville, Chicago, Detroit, and Toronto. Los ~~Angeles.
