Recent data from Morocco’s third national disability survey shows the disability prevalence rate has risen to 8.7 percent, up from 6.8 percent in 2014. Abdeljabbar Errachidi, the Secretary of State in charge of Social Inclusion, suggested this increase might stem from improved monitoring methodologies and international standards rather than a literal increase in cases. The survey indicates that 29 percent of households include at least one person with a disability, with women representing 53.6 percent of the affected population.
