On July 30, 2026, the Central Control Commission of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) voted to remove Nguyên Quang Thiêu from all Party positions. The commission cited serious breaches of Party regulations and state law, including “ideological and moral decline,” failure to enforce anti-corruption and anti-waste rules, and actions that harmed the Party’s prestige. The decision also criticized the Vietnam Writers' Association’s publishing house and the Bac Ninh provincial Party committee for oversight failures.
