The live-action remake of Moana officially debuted on the Disney+ streaming platform on October 21, 2026. Directed by Thomas Kail, the film reimagines the journey of the young Polynesian navigator, Catherine Lagaʻaia, as she seeks to save her community on the island of Motunui by finding the demigod Maui, played by Dwayne Johnson, to return the heart of Te Fiti. The production follows the narrative of the 2016 animated original and includes a musical score featuring classic tracks alongside the new song ‘Along The Way’. While the film’s theatrical run saw a box office collection of approximately $323 million against a production budget of roughly $250 million, it has maintained strong audience interest. In addition to its streaming availability, the film is also being made available on DVD and Blu-ray. The cast also includes John Tui, Frankie Adams, Rena Owen, and Jemaine Clement, with original voice actress Auliʻi Cravalho serving as an executive producer.
