DJI Enterprise initially teased a new docking system and drone under the campaign title “Always There, Always Ready.” Early indications suggested the hardware would feature an automated battery-swapping mechanism using a rotating carousel to reduce turnaround times compared to previous models. On October 14, 2026, DJI officially announced the DJI Dock 4 and the Matrice 5TD enterprise drone. The Dock 4 is described as a “drone-in-a-box” solution capable of performing an automatic battery exchange in under 25 seconds, a significant improvement over the approximately 30-minute charging cycles required by previous generations. This system aims to enable rapid response for public safety, emergency services, infrastructure inspection, and security. The Matrice 5TD drone provides up to 59 minutes of flight time and can reach speeds of 21 metres per second. It is equipped with 50-megapixel cameras, thermal imaging, imaging (1280 x 1024 resolution), rotating LiDAR, and radar. Additional features include an 11x telephoto lens, a 3-kilometre laser rangefinder, and full-color night vision. The drone also utilizes a “Fusion Mode” that overlays visible-light feeds with infrared data for comprehensive structural and thermal imaging. The system is designed for extreme environments, operating in temperatures from -40°C to 50°C, and utilizes the DJI O4 ground station for improved communication stability. stability in complex environments.
