Entrepreneur Ivo Kos was placed in preventive detention in São Paulo following allegations of domestic violence against his wife, dentist Giulia Falcão Kos. The incident reportedly involved physical assaults with a baseball bat and threats with a stun gun in the Pinheiros neighborhood. The victim noted that she had previously filed a police report in May 2024 accusing Kos of marital rape. On August 14, 2026, the Public Ministry of São Paulo (MPSP) formally charged the 48-year-old businessman businessman, a co-founder of the securitization firm Virgo, with bodily injury and threat. The altercation reportedly began in a vehicle, where Kos allegedly punched Falcão multiple times, and escalated at the couple’s residence. There, Kos allegedly struck Falcão in the face and body, hit her hand with a baseball bat, and used an electric shock device to threaten her. The victim also reported that her cell phone was seized to prevent her from calling for help and that Kos threatened her with death if she attempted to leave. Medical examinations confirmed injuries including swelling and bruising to the face, eyes, and nose, as well as a hand injury. Falcão has further alleged a history of domestic abuse, including strangulation and stalking. While Kos remains in the Pinheiros I Provisional Detention Center following a denied request for house arrest, Falcão’s legal counsel is seeking to reclassify the charges to “attempted feminicide” to ensure the case is heard by a jury. Additionally, police are investigating two security guards for allegedly failing to provide assistance to the victim during the attack. A São Paulo court has issued urgent protective measures prohibiting Kos from contacting Falcão or approaching her residence and workplace.
