Recent reports from Chile highlight separate incidents of domestic violence involving male suspects. In San Bernardo, former footballer Jean Paul Pineda was placed in preventive detention following charges of minor injuries and contempt of court. The charges stem from an alleged assault against a former partner at a motel. Authorities noted that Pineda had previously faced judicial proceedings and restraining orders related to domestic violence allegations in 2024 and 2025. In Temuco, a 25-year-old man was detained by Carabineros for the alleged assault and rape of a 29-year-old woman. The suspect reportedly used a firearm during the attack before fleeing the scene. A court has established a 90-day investigation period for the case, and the suspect has since been placed in preventive detention. Recent updates confirm the suspect remains in pretrial detention for the alleged sexual assault and physical attack of his former partner. In a separate incident in San Miguel, a 16-year-old was apprehended at a high school for possessing a modified firearm.
