Recent reports indicate instances of fatal or critical shootings involving domestic disputes in Turkey. In Konya’s Selçuklu district, a 55-year-old man was arrested after shooting his wife during a divorce dispute. The victim was left in serious condition at Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. In Zonguldak’s Kilimli district, a 48-year-old man was apprehended in a forest following a shooting during a divorce dispute with his wife. A local resident who attempted to intervene was also shot and seriously injured. Both victims remain in critical condition. The suspect was reportedly under a preventive measure order at the time of the incident. In Istanbul’s Bayrampaşa district, a 63-year-old butcher, Fikret Korkmaz, was stabbed to death following a dispute involving a suspect’s estranged wife. The suspect, 66-year-old Reşat P., reportedly targeted Korkmaz because the butcher provided wholesale chicken to a restaurant operated by his former spouse, Gülnur P. Witnesses stated the suspect had previously threatened Korkmaz, saying, “Do not give goods to my wife, do not sell products.” Korkmaz sustained multiple stab wounds and died from blood loss while being transported to Gaziosmanpaşa Training and Research Hospital. Reşat P. was apprehended by police at a hospital and has been referred to the courthouse for legal proceedings. New details indicate the suspect intercepted Korkmaz on Turna Street, where a verbal altercation escalated into a physical confrontation. Reşat P., who was also injured during the struggle, reportedly confessed to the crime.
