On 6 August 2026 the court further overturned the exemption from criminal responsibility based on his schizophrenia, ordered three months of preventive detention, and opened a trial for the July 2025 attack. Pumarol was arrested after surrendering to authorities in Ciudad Nueva. His defense attorney warned that the Anamuya facility does not provide adequate psychiatric services nor guarantee inmate safety.
