The Dominican Republic’s Junta Central Electoral (JCE) is managing significant financial obligations and budgetary allocations. To resolve a legal dispute following a November 2025 U.S. District Court ruling, the JCE has agreed to pay US$964,000 to Latin Events, LLC. The payment plan, conflict originated from a 2023 contract valued at US$1 million for voter registration services in New York and surrounding states. While the JCE had previously paid US$230,000, Latin Events claimed the remaining balance plus interest, leading a New York court to order the JCE to pay US$838,337 plus interest. The settlement agreement aims to terminate all ongoing legal and execution proceedings in both the United States and the Dominican Republic. As outlined by JCE President Román Andrés Jáquez Liranzo, the payment plan involves an initial US$300,000 disbursement by October 1, 2026, followed by four monthly installments of US$166,000 ending in February 2027. Attorney Julio Cury noted the settlement confirms the debt was “legitimate and recognized by a competent jurisdiction.” Separately, the 2027 General State Budget project proposes an allocation of RD$4,000 million specifically for the JCE to manage upcoming electoral processes. This brings the JCE’s total proposed budget to RD$11,001.7 million, a 1.3% increase from current levels.
