Luis Henry Molina, president of the Dominican Republic’s Supreme Court of Justice, announced his decision not to seek another term, concluding his tenure after a single cycle. His leadership was noted by legislators for modernizing the court through the implementation of a digitalization law. Prior to his scheduled departure on September 23, Molina advocated for significant criminal justice reform. He called for a cultural shift to move away from the practice of taking most cases to trial, suggesting instead an increased use of agreements between the Public Ministry and the defense to ensure more timely judicial responses. To further optimize the system, Molina has proposed reducing the number of judicial departments from 11 to five large regions to better utilize digital tools.
