Dongfeng Nissan has officially unveiled the NX7, a new compact crossover SUV developed for the Chinese market. Positioned below the larger NX8 in the N series, the vehicle features a design with split headlights, a floating roof, and semi-hidden door handles. The NX7 is expected to be offered in multiple configurations. Official images and reports suggest two primary powertrain variants: a fully battery-electric version and an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) version. For the EREV model, early specifications indicate a 73 kWh LFP battery delivering a CLTC range of approximately 625–635 km and a motor output of up to 272 hp. Technical filings from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology further specify a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) setup. This configuration utilizes a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 73kW, paired with acting as a generator for a 170kW electric motor and motor, paired with a 40.9kWh LFP battery from CATL that provides up to 225km of range on the CLTC cycle. The NX7 is a production version of the Urban SUV PHEV Concept shown at the Beijing motor show. The vehicle may eventually be exported to international markets, including Australia and Europe. It is expected to utilize high-speed charging technology and may share an 800-volt architecture with the larger NX8 model, potentially utilizing CATL lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries with 5C rapid charging capabilities.
