Authorities in the Dominican Republic are investigating two separate double homicide incidents reported in late October 2026. In Neyba, Bahoruco, a man identified as “Timamá” was detained after a Haitian woman and her 11-year-old daughter were found dead at a construction site. A relative discovered the bodies, and reports indicate a bloody machete was recovered during the suspect’s arrest. The suspect reportedly admitted to the killings and claimed two other individuals were involved. In a separate incident in Santo Domingo Este, police arrested 24-year-old Yeisel Yoel Dotel Carvajal for the alleged killing of Yunior Sime Castillo, 33, and Wilmin Encarnación Calderón, 23. Preliminary investigations suggest the deaths resulted from a confrontation regarding a dispute over the theft of electric wires. The suspect, who allegedly opened fire at a residence to make a claim regarding the wires, was apprehended in a mountainous area of Bahoruco province during a joint operation involving the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigation, the Intelligence Directorate, and the Preventive Police. In San Juan, authorities are actively searching for Marcal Montero Montero and Yohan del Carmen Tejeda, who are wanted in connection with separate homicide cases. These investigations occurred amidst extensive nationwide operations by the National Police and the National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD). For the month of October, the DNCD, in coordination with the Public Ministry and the National Police, reported that 4,281 people were arrested during 39,295 operations and 335 raids. Authorities seized approximately 930,902 grams of suspected narcotics, including cocaine, marijuana, crack, tusi, hashish, and ecstasy pills, along with 40 firearms and firearms, 71 knives and machetes. Other law enforcement actions included the arrest of three individuals in Vicente Noble, Barahona, for possession of firearms, contraband cigarettes, and adulterated alcohol, as well as the detention of a 21-year-old machetes, 647 scales, and a 17-year-old in Santiago for their alleged involvement in the shooting death of a police sergeant. 1,196 mobile phones.
