The 25th silver jubilee edition of the Dr. T. Ao Inter-District Football Tournament ~~was held from October 13~~ has progressed to 31 the final stages at the Renpo Lu Astroturf Ground in Mokokchung. ~~Organized by the Nagaland Football Association in collaboration with~~ Following the ~~Government of Nagaland~~ group stages and ~~the Mokokchung District Football Association, the event featured teams from all 17 districts divided into four groups. Other results included a 2-1 win for Tseminyu over Shamator and draws between Chümoukedima and Niuland, as well as Niuland and Peren. The championship advanced to the quarter-final stage following several high-scoring matches. Recent results included Longleng defeating Tseminyu 3-0, Kohima beating Shamator 3-0, and Zunheboto securing a 3-1 victory over Kiphire. Dimapur defeated Noklak 2-0, though this was insufficient for Dimapur to qualify for the quarter-finals. Other notable scores included a 7-7 draw between Dimapur and Kiphire and an 8-1 victory for Mokokchung against Meluri. Mokokchung’s Imnatoshi currently leads the tournament’s Golden Boot race with six goals. Following has moved into the ~~quarter-finals,~~ semi-finals. In the first semi-final, defending champions Mon secured a place in the final by defeating Peren 2-1. Eshong Konyak scored both goals for Mon, including an 86th-minute volley to seal the win after Rangliakam equalized for Peren in the 61st minute. The second semi-final between Zunheboto and Tuensang is scheduled for October 27.
