A series of drone and aircraft incidents have occurred in Moldova’s Ștefan Vodă district. On August 9, 2026, a combat drone exploded near the village of Crocmaz, igniting a vegetation fire but causing no injuries. Authorities recovered fragments of the drone and launched a forensic investigation to determine its origin. On August 17, 2026, the Ministry of Defense reported that an unidentified aircraft entered Moldovan airspace, traveling toward Cuciurgan–Tiraspol. The object was detected by surveillance systems, systems at 17:37, prompting a temporary 15-minute closure of the Center sector airspace. The aircraft subsequently crashed and exploded near Talmaza, approximately 3 kilometers from the village. While the crash ignited nearby vegetation, preliminary reports indicate no victims were recorded. Technical-explosive specialists were have been deployed to the site to identify the aircraft type and origin.
