A man's body was recovered from the Danube river near Dunavecs Dunavecse after he disappeared while swimming near Kulcs on August 20. The incident involved a three-member family near a dam area; while a woman and her 15-year-old son were rescued by boaters, the father was lost in the water. Fejér County police reported that divers eventually located the man approximately 18 kilometers south of the original site. Authorities noted that low water levels in the region can create dangerous undercurrents, contributing to recent drowning incidents. Following the recovery, the victim's 15-year-old son posted a tribute on social media, stating that the family survived only because of his father’s ‘self-sacrifice’. Local experts emphasized that the area near the stone dam is deceptively dangerous, noting that recent low water levels have increased the risk of sudden riverbed breaks.
