Multiple drowning incidents involving children and adults have been reported in Bangladesh and India. In Bangladesh, three children died in separate pond accidents in the Chandpur district. In India, fatalities have been concentrated around religious immersion ceremonies. In Odisha, 12 people, including six children, died across six incidents during Ganesh Visarjan, with some victims being swept away by strong river currents in Jagatsinghpur. Other deaths in Odisha occurred in the Ganjam, Sundargarh, Bhadrak, and Koraput districts. In Maharashtra, two students drowned in a pond in the Katol area of Nagpur while accompanying their mothers for Gauri Visarjan. In Telangana, six students aged between 17 and 22 drowned in a lake in Peddakanjerla village, Sangareddy district, during a Ganesh idol immersion ceremony. The victims were reportedly students of the Shireesha Memorial Charitable Trust, an organization providing shelter for orphaned children. The incident occurred at Neredu Cheruvu when the students entered the water and were unable to swim. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed the district administration to support the families and instructed officials to implement stricter safety precautions for future immersion events.
