DSZO public transport service updates
Overview
The Zlín-Otrokovice Transport Company (DSZO) has undertaken several operational updates to its public transport services.
To improve passenger comfort, the company has expanded its fleet of air-conditioned vehicles, which currently includes 37 air-conditioned trolleybuses, 33 air-conditioned buses, and four electric buses. Future expansion plans, supported by European subsidies, include seven new electric buses and 25 battery-powered trolleybuses. DSZO employs a climate control protocol where air conditioning activates when the interior reaches 26 degrees Celsius to maintain a temperature approximately seven degrees cooler than the outside. Spokesperson Zdeněk Dvořák noted this threshold is intended to prevent temperature shocks for passengers. This specific setting has drawn comparisons to other Czech cities, such as Hradec Králové, Ústí nad Labem, and Brno, which utilize different activation temperatures.
Effective September 1, DSZO will implement new timetables to accommodate the return to school and work schedules. Key changes include the introduction of trolleybus line 15 to Mladcova, partially replacing bus line 31, and the establishment of a new stop, ‘Pod Vodojemem’, on lines 3, 13, and 15. Additional adjustments involve shifting departure times for lines 51 and 52 in Malenovice and advancing two night connections (line N) from the Otrokovice, Štěrkoviště stop by three minutes to mitigate delays. Service suspensions were also noted for specific stops in Štípa due to local roadwork.
