The Trimbos Institute in the Netherlands has issued a ‘Red Alert’ regarding potentially lethal ecstasy pills shaped like the head of Donald Trump. The tablets feature Trump’s likeness on one side and the inscriptions ‘NL’ and ‘Trump’ on the reverse, appearing in green and yellow colors. Chemical analysis by the Drugs Information and Monitoring System (DIMS) and the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) identified high concentrations of PMMA (para-methoxymethamphetamine) in the pills. While structurally similar to MDMA, PMMA acts more slowly, increasing the risk of overdose if users consume additional doses before the first takes effect. Consumption of these pills can cause severe physiological reactions, such as nausea, rapid heartbeat, convulsions, and dangerous hyperthermia. While no confirmed fatalities or serious illnesses specifically linked to these pills have been reported in the Netherlands to date, the institute maintains an urgent warning, urging consumers to ‘absolutely do not use these pills’ due to the substance’s lethal potential. The warning follows the discovery of these tablets at drug-testing centers used by consumers to analyze substances before ingestion.
