E-Distribuzione, a subsidiary of the Enel Group, has initiated several infrastructure projects to enhance electrical grid capacity and digitalization across different Italian regions. In Macerata, the company announced a 21.8 million euro investment plan to install 43 kilometers of new electrical lines and construct a second primary AT/MT substation in the Rotacupa district. This project aims to complement existing facilities and improve technological management of the local grid. In Venice, a separate new phase of voltage upgrades is scheduled for October 13 to take place in several districts, including 16, targeting the San Marco Marco, San Polo, Santa Croce, Dorsoduro, and Giudecca. Giudecca districts. This initiative involves transitioning the network from 10 kV to 20 kV to double power capacity. This The work is part of a broader 76 million euro development plan for Venice intended to support electric mobility, renewable energy integration, and remote system monitoring. Over 150 technicians are expected to participate, with scheduled daily power outages occurring during two windows: 7:30–14:30 and 13:30–20:30. Additional modernization efforts are underway in other regions. In Poggibonsi, technicians are upgrading the Monte Sabotino substation by replacing electromechanical equipment with fully automated components to enable remote maneuvers and improve service continuity. Meanwhile, in Arzachena, the company plans to install 31 kilometers of new underground electrical lines. This investment aims to benefit over 10,000 citizens and the local tourism sector by increasing grid resilience against extreme weather events, such as intense summer heatwaves.
