The Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC) is advancing technological integration and innovation within public broadcasting in Brazil. Initially, the EBC highlighted its leadership in the transition to TV 3.0, a new broadcasting standard that merges traditional television with internet-based applications. The organization was selected to manage the ‘Plataforma Comum’ (Common Platform), an environment designed to converge content from various public broadcasters and provide digital government services. Following this, the EBC launched the Center for Innovation and Research in Public Communication (CIPública). This center is tasked with coordinating science, technology, and innovation actions, facilitating partnerships with universities and researchers. It aims to address emerging themes such as Artificial Intelligence, TV 3.0, and platformization to transform knowledge into practical solutions for public communication. According to EBC Director-General Thiago Regotto, the center represents a “vital step in consolidating a permanent culture of research and innovation.” CIPública serves as the primary vehicle for implementing the EBC’s Innovation Policy, which was approved in May. Jonas Valente, Manager of Innovation and Technology, noted that the center’s objective is to strengthen Brazilian public communication through science and technology projects.
