The province of La Rioja has implemented several initiatives aimed at stimulating the local economy and supporting community development. In July 2026, the provincial government launched the “Chachos” voucher program to boost winter tourism. This initiative injected 250 million Argentine pesos into the economy, resulting in 544 million pesos in tourist billing and an estimated total economic impact of 12.012 billion pesos. The program saw over 7,600 visitors redeem vouchers across various sectors, including hotels, restaurants, and local producers. Following these efforts, Vice Governor Teresita Madera has promoted further economic and educational programs. The ‘Adelante Comercio’ program focuses on supporting small businesses and entrepreneurship in the province's interior. Additionally, Banco Rioja and the Ministry of Education launched ‘Ideas que Valen +’, a competition for high school students to develop financial education projects to address community issues. In August 2026, the provincial government expanded its social focus by launching the ‘Building Healthy Environments for Childhood’ initiative. Developed in collaboration with the civil association ‘Súper Saludable’, the program seeks to promote healthy eating, physical activity, and reduced sedentary lifestyles through training and community participation in schools and families. Furthermore, La Rioja has entered into an international cooperation agreement with the department of Paysandú, Uruguay. Supported by the Argentine Agency for International Cooperation and Humanitarian Assistance (ACIAH) and the Uruguayan Agency for International Cooperation (AUCI), the province will engage in a mission to Uruguay to exchange public policies and design joint projects regarding youth development.
