Edinburgh tram network expansion plans

Following this, the City of Edinburgh Council approved the next stage of the expansion but decided to prioritize the southern section. This immediate focus will connect the city centre with the Edinburgh BioQuarter and the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, while further work continues regarding a future connection between Granton and the city centre.

The project remains integrated with regional transit studies and feasibility assessments regarding the potential reintroduction of passenger services on the South Suburban Railway line.
