By the end of July, farmers in the district began showcasing technological adaptations to sustain and enhance production. A group of rice growers installed a solar‑powered deep‑well system that lifts water from 100 metres underground, eliminating electricity costs and enabling drone‑based pesticide application. Farmer Şaban Akdeniz, who invested in the system eight years ago, said it has fully amortised, allowing producers to forgo electricity bills and remain independent of unreliable grid supply. Drones are also used to spray pesticides uniformly, saving labor and stabilising yields despite irregular rainfall and drought conditions. Together, the forecasts of unusually high yields and the adoption expanding use of solar irrigation and drone spraying depict a broader trend of agricultural optimism and modernization in Edirne, Turkey.
