Educational institutions in Daegu are implementing various programs to support learner development and economic growth. Initially, Daegu Catholic University introduced initiatives such as the ‘Dasi Baeum ON’ program to assist approximately 200 adult learners with university adaptation, alongside employment support for local youth involving AI training and industry-specific lectures. Following these individual efforts, nine universities in the Daegu region established the University Startup Support Council (DRIVE). This collaborative initiative focuses on technology-based entrepreneurship through the ‘New Industry Technology Entrepreneur Cultivation’ program. The council aims to support student teams by providing funding for minimum viable product production, expert mentoring, and market verification to foster talent within the local economy. Recent developments show an expansion of these roles toward regional integration and industry-specific training. Daegu Science University has launched an ‘Anchor’ project to link education, industry, and local settlement, establishing new departments like Smart Mobility and Global Care. The university is also strengthening industry-academic cooperation through the ‘JA Professor System’ and capstone designs, while providing comprehensive support for international students regarding admission, employment, and local adaptation. Building on the ‘Anchor’ project, Daegu Science University has entered a business agreement with REB Partners to enhance field-based practical training and employment links within the real estate sector. This partnership aims to integrate industry demands into curricula, support entrepreneurship in specialized regional fields, and provide lifelong education and job support for international students and adult learners. Furthermore, students from Keimyung College University and three other vocational colleges have utilized generative AI to produce multilingual traffic safety educational content. Developed in collaboration with Daegu City and the Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency, these animations and short-form videos include subtitles in six languages, such as English, Vietnamese, and Uzbek, to assist international residents in navigating Korean traffic laws.
