Educational infrastructure developments in the Balkans
Overview
Recent developments in the Balkan region show a focus on expanding and modernizing educational facilities. In North Macedonia, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and Minister of Education Vesna Janevska inaugurated the ‘Krste Petkov Misirkov’ primary school in the Cento neighborhood of Gazi Baba. The 170 million denar project provides 30 classrooms for 713 students, replacing older barracks used for five decades.
In Montenegro, a new primary school for 500 students is being established within the reconstructed ‘Dr Simo Milošević’ Institute complex in Igalo. This facility will include specialized science and art rooms, computer labs, a library, and a dental clinic, with a design focused on full accessibility.
Simultaneously, in Ćićevac, Serbia, the ‘Dositej Obradović’ primary school completed an 84 million dinar renovation of its schoolyard. The project added a multifunctional sports field, an outdoor gym, a playground, and four outdoor classrooms for nature-based learning, alongside updated utility networks.
