Egypt economic support for entrepreneurship

Overview

The Egyptian government has implemented significant financial measures to stimulate production and support small businesses. In late September 2026, Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk announced an allocation of 80 billion Egyptian pounds in the current budget to encourage exports, entrepreneurship, and production. This initiative includes a ‘simplified tax system’ for small businesses and the creation of specialized funds in collaboration with the Ministries of Investment and Industry.

By October 2026, the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Development Agency reported that it had provided 67.8 billion EGP in funding between 2014 and June 2026. This capital supported approximately 2.1 million projects and contributed to the creation of 3.6 million jobs. The agency also facilitated 500,000 non-financial services and organized exhibitions resulting in 38 billion EGP in sales. Furthermore, the agency contributed 55 million USD toward investment funds, helping to attract 455 million USD in foreign direct investment for Egyptian startups.
