Egyptian government officials are pursuing strategies to expand industrial production and increase national exports through new investment models and capacity building. Industry Minister Khaled Hashem has engaged with Beyti Egypt regarding a planned 6 billion EGP injection to increase production capacity. Additionally, the Ministry is exploring cooperation with the Egyptian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association to mobilize private capital via industrial investment funds and an ‘Industrial Franchise’ model. Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid is focusing on professionalizing the export sector and transitioning from planning to execution. This strategy rests on four pillars: facilitating business practices, supporting small and medium enterprises, effective investment promotion, and mitigating investment risks. Central to this is the digitization of procedures to create a seamless ‘investor journey.’ Farid has also met with Omar Al Futtaim of the UAE-based Al-Futtaim Group to discuss expanding cooperation in logistics, energy, and commercial management. During the Egyptian-French Business Forum in Paris, Minister Farid discussed expansion plans with international corporations. Discussions with the French group Meridiam focused on infrastructure, renewable energy, and water desalination, while talks with the Casino Group addressed retail expansion via the Monoprix brand. Furthermore, the UAE-based RMB Group is exploring meat and poultry processing opportunities within the Suez Canal Economic Zone. To support export growth, the Minister emphasized increasing local manufacturing components and utilizing Egyptian suppliers. Expanding on these long-term goals, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has reviewed a new foreign direct investment (FDI) strategy for 2027–2030. Developed with input from the private sector and experts from the World Bank and IFC, the strategy aims to enhance competitiveness through improved infrastructure, incentives, and increased private-sector participation, with a focus on industrial localization and technology transfer. Economic indicators show real GDP growth rose to 5.1% in the 2025/2026 fiscal year, with unemployment decreasing to 5.8%. Improvements in the business environment include reducing average customs clearance times from 16 days to approximately 5.8 days as of June 2026. The government is also working on digitalizing licensing and updating company law to support restructuring and mergers.
