Egypt investment and economic cooperation initiatives

Overview

Egypt is pursuing various initiatives to expand investment cooperation and economic integration. Initially, discussions were held with the Arab Businesswomen Council to enhance Arab investment cooperation and support women’s participation in economic activities through the digitalization and simplification of investment procedures.

Following these efforts, Egypt and South Africa officially inaugurated the Egypt–South Africa Business Council. This new council, launched in collaboration with the African Export-Import Bank, aims to translate political momentum into economic cooperation across sectors such as mining, renewable energy, agriculture, and pharmaceuticals. The initiative seeks to leverage BRICS membership and improve intra-African trade by connecting northern and southern Africa through enhanced logistics and shipping routes.
