As the 2026/2027 academic year approaches, Egyptian families are facing financial pressure due to the rising costs of school supplies. In response, the ‘Ahlan Madaris’ (Welcome Schools) exhibitions were launched to provide essential items such as stationery, clothing, and footwear at discounts. In Giza, the exhibition at the Al-Matahen grounds on King Faisal Street features 65 pavilions and operates daily until September 25. Footwear options include imported children’s shoes for 100 EGP and various local models starting at 100 EGP, with prices reaching up to 450 EGP. Stationery items include 60-page notebooks priced between 70 and 120 EGP per dozen, 100-page wire-bound notebooks ranging from 20 to 55 EGP, pencil sets starting at 35 EGP per dozen, and lunch boxes from 40 to 200 EGP. The initiative has expanded geographically. In Aswan, Governor Amr Lashin inaugurated the ‘Ahlan Madaris’ exhibition to provide goods at discounts of up to 30% compared to market prices. The governorate is organizing 10 exhibitions across various centers, including Aswan city, Nasr al-Nuba, Daraw, Kom Ombo, and Edfu. While the main exhibitions are organized by the Supply Directorate and the Chamber of Commerce, five additional exhibitions are being held in cooperation with political parties, civil society, and the private sector. In the Al-Radisiya area, one specific exhibition has reportedly offered discounts of up to 40%. centers.
