Einride is expanding its autonomous and electric freight operations through new partnerships and fleet acquisitions. In August 2026, Einride announced a partnership with DAF Trucks to integrate the Einride Driver autonomous system into DAF’s electric truck platform. Working with the Dutch research institute TNO, the companies aim to develop SAE Level 4 autonomous capabilities, with testing planned for 2026 and a target launch in 2027. Concurrently, Einride AB ordered 500 Tesla Semi electric trucks for deployment across North America. This phased rollout, beginning in September 2026, will serve customers such as Amazon across several US states, including California, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois, and Georgia. The fleet will be managed via Einride’s Saga AI platform to optimize charging and routing, a move intended to help the company reach cash-flow breakeven by 2028. This order, valued at approximately 125 million euros (estimated between $130 million and $145 million), is expected to triple Einride’s deployed electric truck fleet and will be entirely financed by third parties. Separately, Tesla is preparing to expand the Tesla Semi's presence into the European market. The electric truck is market, with an expected to make its official European debut at the IAA Transportation exhibition in Hanover, Germany, this September, where Tesla Germany. In Sweden, Einride has also expanded its partnership with grocery retailer Lidl. The agreement will reveal specific European configurations nearly double annual electric freight volumes from 474,000 to 832,000 kilometers.
