Election preparations in Turkey and Cyprus

Overview

Political parties in Turkey and Cyprus are intensifying preparations for upcoming electoral cycles. In Turkey, the Republican People's Party (CHP) has focused on economic issues, such as business liquidity crises and loan delinquency, while also moving to support Ayşe Ünlüce in the Union of Municipalities of Turkey (TBB) elections to consolidate opposition strength. In the Karaman province, the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has set goals to secure all three parliamentary seats under the People's Alliance.

In Cyprus, various parties are finalizing their strategies for the December 6 elections. The Social Democratic Party (TDP) is focusing on social justice and educational equality, while the People's Party (HP) and the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) have released or outlined candidate lists and governance visions. Analysts suggest the CTP and the National Unity Party (UBP) are expected to compete for the top two positions in the upcoming vote.
