In Zulia state, Venezuela, the national government and local authorities have initiated a distribution of transformers to stabilize the electrical system. In Maracaibo, the Mayor’s Office received 70 Venezuelan-made transformers to address service failures across 18 parishes. This effort is part of a broader plan to distribute 376 units across 21 municipalities in the state, following a previous delivery of 520 units. Governor Luis Caldera noted that these measures aim to assist approximately 13,000 families. The deployment involves coordination between various levels of government and Corpoelec crews, utilizing beneficiary data from the ‘1x10 del Buen Gobierno’ platform. The transformers include units produced at the General in Jefe Rafael Urdaneta workshop at the Corpoelec headquarters. Despite these stabilization efforts, residents in Maracaibo continue to face frequent and prolonged electricity outages, with daily power cuts lasting at least five to six hours. To cope with the disruption and high temperatures, locals are increasingly purchasing rechargeable devices, such as fans, light bulbs, and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), to mitigate the impact on their daily lives.
