Brazil’s transport overhaul continues with accelerated highway duplications, toll revisions, and electronic free‑flow collection. Governor Otaviano Pivetta set the BR‑163 duplication in Mato Grosso for completion by Dec 2026 and a 46‑km BR‑365 stretch in Minas Gerais for 2028. In São Paulo, Artesp approved a 4.72 % toll rise on 1 July and launched a free‑flow system on the Anchieta‑Imigrantes corridor on 1 August. Major concessions also expand, including Mota‑Engil’s consortium for BR‑116 sections and Arteris’s work on BR‑376. In Mato Grosso, infrastructure developments have progressed through new paving and major concessions. A R$ 53.44 million contract was signed to pave 35.66 kilometers of the MT-160 highway between Barra do Bugres and Alto Paraguai. Additionally, the State Secretariat of Infrastructure and Logistics (Sinfra) ratified a 30-year concession for 634.35 kilometers of state highways to the Consórcio Rota Multimodal–CS Infra. This consortium, led by CS Infra (a Simpar subsidiary) with an 80% stake, will manage sections of the MT-020, MT-140, MT-225, MT-244, and MT-251. The ~~concession, covering routes vital for soy, corn, cotton, and beef,~~ concession involves an average annual investment of R$ 93 million ~~for maintenance~~ and ~~safety. A key feature of the contract is the implementation of~~ features a ‘free flow’ system using nine automatic collection ~~gantries instead of physical toll plazas, with collection scheduled to begin~~ gantries. Recent developments in Mato Grosso include the ~~second year. The consortium has committed to~~ awarding of a R$ ~~43.1~~ 52.6 million ~~contribution~~ contract to Edeconsil Construções to pave 24.4 kilometers of the MT-338 highway in Juara. Furthermore, the BR-163 highway was named ‘Brazil’s most comfortable highway’ at the IRI 2026 Awards, with the stretch between Lucas do Rio Verde and ~~a 13.31% discount on basic toll rates.~~ Sorriso securing first place in the Implementation and Duplication category.
