Overview

In mid‑July 2026, Elijah Ayodele, the Primate of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, warned that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was unlikely to retain all northern states in Nigeria’s 2027 elections, naming Sokoto, Benue, Plateau, Kano, Kaduna, Yobe, Adamawa, Niger and Nasarawa as at risk and urging governors to work “extraordinarily hard” to keep them.

He cautioned President Bola Tinubu not to interfere in the upcoming Osun State governorship election, linking any meddling to possible national crisis, violence and adverse effects on the 2027 presidential race, and urged security forces to be deployed to maintain peace.
