The transfer status of Tunisian midfielder Ellyes Skhiri has fluctuated between several German clubs. Initially, 1. FC Köln was reported to be close to signing Skhiri from Eintracht Frankfurt for an estimated fee of €1.5–2 million. By late July, reports suggested a shift in the situation, with Eintracht Frankfurt indicating Skhiri would not join their training camp and noting that a return to Köln had been ruled out. During this period, Mainz 05 emerged as a primary suitor alongside interest from Olympiakos Piraeus, Torino, and Fiorentina. However, by mid-August, negotiations between Eintracht Frankfurt and 1. FC Köln appeared to regain momentum. Reports indicated that both parties were moving closer to an agreement on contract terms as Frankfurt sought to manage its squad ahead of the transfer window deadline. As of late August, the return of Skhiri to 1. FC Köln appears imminent. Following a medical examination, the 31-year-old is expected to sign a contract through 2028, with the transfer fee estimated to remain between €1.5 and €2 million.
