Regional energy and industrial leaders in Mexico, Central America, and Spain are focusing on the dual challenges of energy transition and technological integration. In Mexico, specialized congresses are further exploring how the focus on the petrochemical industry can utilize automation, predictive analysis, and artificial intelligence has intensified through regional strategic planning. In Veracruz, officials at the 7th International Energy Congress announced a 93 billion peso mixed investment plan for 2026–2030 to improve efficiency revitalize petrochemical and sustainability. fertilizer complexes, including Pajaritos, Morelos, and Cangrejera, alongside 25.3 billion pesos for the Escolín complex. This regional growth, supported by mining and electricity sectors, leverages Veracruz’s ports and the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. However, these regional ambitions face potential headwinds from federal fiscal policy. The Mexican government’s 2027 budget proposal includes significant cuts to energy administration. The Ministry of Energy (Sener) faces a projected real budget reduction of 69% compared to 2026, as the government seeks to encourage Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) to achieve greater fiscal autonomy. Additionally, the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) is projected to see an 8.5% real budget reduction.
