England defender Nico O’Reilly withdrew from the national squad for UEFA Nations League fixtures against Croatia and Czechia due to injury. Following his recent appearance against Spain, O’Reilly returned to Manchester City for medical assessment. While manager Thomas Tuchel initially did not plan to call up a replacement, Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha was confirmed for the squad. Subsequent reports indicate O’Reilly required further medical evaluation after sustaining an injury during England’s match against Czechia in Prague. To fill the vacancy in the defensive lineup, Manchester City defender Rico Lewis was called up to the senior squad for the upcoming match against Czechia at Wembley. Lewis, who previously played for the England U-21 side, joins the team to provide additional depth for manager Thomas Tuchel. While Lewis Hall remained the only other natural left-back in the squad following O’Reilly’s departure, Lewis brings experience to the lineup with five senior caps, having last appeared for the national team in late 2024.
