In Entre Ríos, Argentina, medical professionals and the Obra Social de Entre Ríos (OSER) have entered a dispute regarding service payments. OSER administration denied allegations of payment delays for 1,100 home caregivers, stating that August payments were completed by late September. However, the Federación Médica de Entre Ríos (FEMER) voted to suspend inpatient services in November if disputed debits are not returned, alleging that unjustified deductions were applied to medical fees for hospitalizations billed during June and July. As of November 2, 2026, FEMER has implemented a temporary suspension of medical consultations during hospitalizations for OSER affiliates. The federation claims the measure responds to unpaid fees and unjustified deductions, noting that no timeline has been provided to regularize the situation. OSER has refuted these claims, stating that deductions result from audit inconsistencies. The provider reported detecting errors in FEMER’s billing, including the use of non-existent procedure codes, missing records, late submissions, and potential duplications of surgical interventions. OSER clarified that while consultations by FEMER professionals are affected, hospitalizations and surgeries remain operational through independent doctors and other associations. Technical teams from both institutions are currently engaged in a conciliation process. The dispute has escalated into political tension. Members of the Juntos por Entre Ríos bloc have accused the PJ of defending old privileges, while the PJ bloc has requested urgent solutions from the provincial government to ensure healthcare continuity for approximately 300,000 affiliates. Concurrently, the provincial government approved a public tender to purchase diabetes medications for patients without social security coverage. Under Decree No. 3328, signed by Governor Rogelio Frigerio and Health Minister Daniel Blanzaco, contracts totaling 252,100,000 pesos were awarded to ABC S.A., Macropharma S.A., and VI-FARMA S.R.L. to supply various medications including metformin, dapagliflozin, gliclazide, and teneligliptin.
