Italian authorities have conducted multiple operations to combat illegal fishing and poaching. In Fiumicino, the Coast Guard and Marevivo Foundation removed a 150-meter ‘ghost net’ from the Tiber River to protect biodiversity and navigation. In the Brescia province, Carabinieri arrested two men for illegal possession of weapons and the unauthorized capture of protected species, including robins and a finch. Similar anti-poaching efforts occurred in the Campania region, where Provincial Police and WWF hunting guards identified several individuals engaged in illegal hunting. These operations in Caserta, Naples, and Marano led to the seizure of prohibited electromagnetic acoustic callers and unlicensed firearms, with suspects reported to the Prosecutor’s Office for violating wildlife protection laws. Expanding on these efforts, law enforcement officials in Caserta, working with the WWF, conducted a major operation along the Domitian coast. During checks in rural areas and migratory routes in Castel Volturno, authorities identified seven individuals engaged in unauthorized hunting. The operation resulted in the seizure of six hunting rifles and three illegal electromagnetic acoustic devices used to artificially attract birds. The seven individuals have been reported to the Prosecutor of the Republic at the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere for potential violations of national wildlife protection laws. Provincial President Anacleto Colombiano expressed support for the joint efforts, noting that continued controls are planned for the Caserta coastline.
