The Epic Games Store continued its weekly “Free Thursday” promotion throughout July and August 2026. Following earlier July giveaways such as River City Girls 2, I Have No Mouth, I Must Scream, Nova Lands, Tattoo Tycoon, Together After Dark, Echo Generation, Luto, and Foretales, the store added OTXO on 27 July. From 30 July to 6 August, the promotion included the top-down shooter OTXO alongside the tactical roguelite Sol Cesto. The mid-August window, running from 6 August to 13 August, featured the narrative adventure Beacon Pines, the cooperative puzzle game We Were Here Together, and the narrative puzzle game A Guidebook of Babel. Following the mid-August period, the rotation moved to Caravan SandWitch. By late August, the store offered the space survival adventure Breathedge and the horse racing simulation Rival Stars Horse Racing: Desktop Edition, available for claim until 3 September 2026. Regional availability issues have emerged in Germany regarding these titles. While Rival Stars Horse Racing remains accessible, Breathedge has disappeared from the German Epic Games Store, with users receiving messages stating the content is “unavailable in their region”. This follows earlier reports that the upcoming title, Alone With You—scheduled for 3 September to 10 September 2026—may also be unavailable in Germany due to missing age ratings or local restrictions, causing confusion among local users. On 10 September 2026, the store transitioned to offering two highly-rated titles: the 2D rogue-lite platformer Astral Ascent and the pixel-art shooter Luftrausers. Astral Ascent, a fast-paced 2D pixel-art Roguelite platformer developed by Hibernian Workshop, holds a Metacritic score of 86. Luftrausers, an arcade-style combat shooter from Vlambeer, holds a Metacritic score of 80. This promotional offer is available until 17 September 2026. Following this period, the store has indicated that Mindcop and Shogun Showdown are scheduled as the next free offerings.
