Results from the Phase 3 DeLLphi-305 clinical trial indicate that a combination of Amgen’s Imdelltra (tarlatamab) and AstraZeneca’s Imfinzi (durvalumab) significantly improves survival outcomes for patients with extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC). Presented at the ESMO 2026 Congress in Madrid and published in the New England Journal of Medicine, the study found that the combination therapy reduced the risk of death by 58% compared to durvalumab alone. For patients who had not seen disease progression following initial platinum-based chemotherapy, etoposide, and durvalumab, the combination extended median overall survival to 21.1 months, whereas the control group saw 12.7 months. The one-year survival rate for the combination group was approximately 79% to 80%, compared to 53% in the control group. While the therapy showed high efficacy, researchers noted that Regarding safety, approximately 49.6% of patients receiving Imdelltra experienced cytokine release syndrome, though researchers noted these effects are manageable; only one case was reported as serious and none resulted in death. Additionally, severe (Grade 3 and 4) treatment-related adverse events occurred in 20.9% of the combination group.
