Estonian authorities concluded that an arson attack on the Milrem Robotics facility in Tallinn, occurring on August 14–15, was a sabotage operation commissioned by Russian special services. Milrem Robotics is a defense technology company that supplies unmanned ground vehicles, such as the THeMIS, to Ukraine. Following a thorough intelligence assessment, the Estonian Internal Security Service (Kapo) confirmed the findings. Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal and Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna stated the attack is part of a broader Russian campaign of hybrid provocations intended to intimidate NATO allies and weaken support for Ukraine. In response, Estonia plans to summon the Russian chargé d'affaires to deliver a protest note, increase sanctions, and explore travel restrictions for Russian citizens. Three suspects, including two Latvian citizens, were detained in Latvia and extradited to Estonia, where they remain in custody. French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the alleged sabotage, describing it as a “dangerous flight forward” by Russia.
