In late July 2026, Prince William issued an appeal regarding devastating wildfires sweeping through France, Spain, and the United Kingdom. By mid-August, the wildfire situation intensified within the United Kingdom. Prince William released a follow-up statement via Kensington Palace social media accounts to thank responders and volunteers battling widespread fires across England and Wales. He specifically noted his thoughts for those who had lost their homes. Intense heat and dry conditions pushed fire services to their limits in regions including Norfolk, Hampshire, and Carmarthenshire, where fires moved from agricultural land into residential communities, necessitating mass evacuations.
