Cancer support organizations in Europe are conducting various community initiatives to assist patients and their families. In Belgium and the Netherlands, activities include peer support meetings for head and neck cancer patients in Bruges, as well as scheduled information sessions in Helmond focused on the physical and psychological impacts of lung cancer. Additionally, the Krebshilfe VoG in Belgium is hosting an annual fundraising day to support services such as patient transportation and medical necessities like specialized nutrition and wigs. In the Netherlands, the foundation ‘Als kanker je raakt’ is organizing events in Sassenheim. A benefit concert is scheduled for October 30 at the Sint Pancratiuskerk, featuring musical performances by PGSassenheim Canticum Vocale and the brass group GoedKoper. On November 7, the foundation will host a meeting day at Het Venster, which includes a lecture by Marjan van ’t Spijker, a lunch, and workshops focused on managing grief and living with cancer to provide a “low-threshold opportunity” for patients and relatives to find mutual support. In Germany, self-help groups are marking milestones with educational programs. In Neuburg an der Donau, a 15th-anniversary initiative includes expert lectures on advanced medical treatments, such as CAR-T-cell therapies, to facilitate exchange between medical professionals, patients, and relatives.
