In July 2026 the Dutch discount chain Action began withdrawing its "Big Jeff" “Big Jeff” heat‑resistant barbecue glove after tests showed it failed flame‑resistance standards and could cause burns. The recall was first announced for sales in Italy, where the glove had been sold from April to August 2025, and customers were instructed to return the product for a full refund. The same announcement also included a recall by German cookware maker Zwilling J.A. Henckels of electric kettles and a contact grill marketed in San Marino, citing loose handles and a risk of electric shock. Customers were offered free replacements, repairs or refunds. A few days later Action reiterated the glove recall, extending the warning to all markets, while French‑owned retailer Auchan in Poland issued a separate recall of Arizona Original Green Tea bottles after a sanitary inspection detected abnormal colour, chemical odour and bitter taste in a specific batch. Shoppers were told to discard the product or return it for a refund. On 26 July 2026 Action issued an urgent recall of the same “Big Jeff” glove in Portugal, stating that the product does not meet the claimed fire‑resistance specifications and advising owners to stop using it and return it to any Action store for a full refund, even without a receipt. Together, the notices illustrate a wave of safety-driven safety‑driven product withdrawals across European retailers, covering both fire‑hazard gloves and unrelated food and appliance items, with manufacturers and stores providing refund or replacement options to affected consumers.
