The European urban mobility market is seeing a shift toward compact electric vehicles. Spanish manufacturer Liux plans to debut the ‘Big’ at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, an ultra-compact L7e quadricycle featuring a flax fiber biocomposite structure designed to reduce chassis weight by 40% and carbon footprint by 60%. The vehicle, which has an estimated range of 270 kilometers and a price under 18,000 euros, is expected to launch in Spain, Italy, and France in the first half of 2027. Citroen is also reviving its iconic 2CV nameplate with an electric focus. Following the presentation of the 2CV Concept and the 2CV Fourgonnette Concept at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, officials indicate the production model will retain approximately 90% of the concept’s design. Key modifications for the 2028 production version include a wider hood without ribbing, less voluptuous fenders, a more curved windshield with concealed wipers, and recessed door handles instead of chrome. The passenger model aims for a target price of approximately 15,000 euros and will sit between the Ami quadricycle and the C3 in the brand’s lineup. Manufacturing is expected to take place at the Pomigliano d’Arco plant in Italy, utilizing a platform developed in collaboration with the Chinese company Leapmotor. Stellantis is evaluating India as a potential strategic hub for the global production and export of the 2CV EV, aiming for a 2028 launch. This aligns with a broader commitment to invest ₹4,000 crore in the Indian market to increase production at the Tiruvallur plant. While the 2CV Fourgonnette Concept serves as a stylistic exercise for small businesses rather than a short-term production model, it aims to revive the practical spirit of the original utility vehicle.
